How to Get Anima FFX and Complete the Required Trials

Unlocking the legendary Aeon Anima in Final Fantasy X is one of the most rewarding milestones for any dedicated player. This dark and powerful summon possesses unmatched damage potential, making it essential for conquering late-game superbosses. To claim her power, players must prove their thoroughness by solving hidden puzzles scattered across the world of Spira.

Understanding the Destruction Sphere Requirement

The journey to obtaining Anima relies entirely on completing the Cloister of Trials found within the game's major temples. Each temple contains a hidden treasure chest that can only be revealed by using a specific Destruction Sphere within that puzzle room. If you completed a trial but missed the secret chest, you must revisit the location later in the game to claim it.

There are six critical items in total that you need to unlock the path forward. These treasures are located in the temples of Besaid, Kilika, Djose, Macalania, Bevelle, and the holy ruins of Zanarkand. Missing even a single one will prevent the final chamber from opening, forcing an often arduous trek backward.

Navigating Back to the Main Temples

Once players gain full control of the airship late in the story, revisiting previous areas becomes much easier. However, returning to places like Besaid or Macalania can introduce significant danger because powerful Dark Aeons block the entrances in certain versions of the game. It is highly recommended to double-check your puzzle status before these powerful entities spawn.

The trial in Bevelle is unique because its Destruction Sphere chest is integrated directly into the mandatory path to exit the area. This design choice prevents players from permanently locking themselves out of the summon if they happen to miss other optional areas. For the remaining locations, you must solve the secondary puzzles to ensure every beacon is lit.

Locating the Hidden Baaj Temple

After confirming that all six hidden treasures have been collected, you must use the airship navigation system to search for new coordinates. Entering the specific inputs of X14 and Y57 on the map will reveal the forgotten location of Baaj Temple. This is the exact sunken structure where Tidus originally found himself at the start of his grand adventure.

Upon arrival, you will need to dive into the deep water surrounding the ruins and prepare for an immediate boss encounter. Defeating the aquatic fiend Geosgaeno will grant you access to the underwater entrance leading into the temple's main hall. Inside, you will find six stone statues arranged around a central chamber that corresponds directly to the temples you visited.

Activating the Statues and Claiming Anima

Approach each of the six statues inside the Anima chamber to trigger an interaction that checks your game progress. If you collected the corresponding Destruction Sphere treasure, the statue will light up with a bright blue flame. Once all six pillars are successfully activated, the sealed barrier at the back of the room will dissolve entirely.

Stepping forward into the inner sanctum will trigger a dramatic story sequence involving Seymour's mother, who embodies the summon. Following this emotional encounter, Anima will officially join Yuna's roster of powerful spirits. Players can then immediately summon her to execute the devastating Oblivion overdrive and crush any formidable opponent in their way.
